Leap Forward Employment - Community Interest Company
Finding work for adults with Mental Health issues

We are a regulated not-for-profit Community Interest Company (in association with the mental health charity Rethink) which aims to increase the rate of employment amongst people with mental health issues, particularly severe mental illness, living in the London Borough of Merton.

A team of eight people, who have an impressive range of skills, experience and qualifications, are responsible for the management of the organisation, as well as having the backing and resources of Rethink. Seven of these people are Mental Health Service Users, meaning that we are truly a Service User led and run organisation.

We are very fortunate to have as our Patron, Siobhain McDonagh MP for Mitcham & Morden.

As a Social Enterprise, we have a great deal more flexibility to be innovative than other types of Service Provider. The commercial expertise amongst our team means that we can adopt Private Sector techniques to achieve the best results for our clients. For example, we are members of Merton Chamber of Commerce, to enable us to network amongst and build relationships with local employers, in order to promote the employment of our clients.

We aim to work closely with our Service Provider colleagues within Merton, as well as with CMHT's and GP's.

We use detailed assessment tools, with clients, to enable us to design a personalised Employment Pathway Plan for that individual, taking them through training & education, confidence building, voluntary work, work placement and, finally, into paid employment.
